No improvement in demand for forest industry products

Although there are already small signs of economic recovery in the euro area, demand in the main market areas of the forest industry will remain weak in the current and next year due to US tariffs, the strengthening of the euro, oversupply of forest industry products and weak consumer confidence. Timber extraction and imports in Finland will remain at the same level in 2026 as in the current year. Root prices are expected to fall due to large wood stocks and restrictions on production. This is stated in the Natural Resources Institute Finland’s forest sector outlook report.
