The CBE JU has signed funding agreements with 24 new projects. The funded consortia, comprising 332 beneficiaries from 32 countries, will receive €172 million to promote the expansion of competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe and bring new sustainable products and solutions to market.
The 24 new projects selected will drive bioeconomy innovation and scale up the production of circular bio-based solutions through four types of actions:
- Four flagship innovation actions will receive €68 million to build Europe’s first-of-their-kind industrial biorefineries.
- Eleven innovation actions will share €75.2 million to scale up bio-based prototype solutions.
- Eight research and innovation actions have been awarded €27.4 million to test the potential of new or improved solutions under laboratory or controlled conditions.
- One coordination and support action has been awarded €1 million to strengthen expertise and training in European bio-based industries.
